QUALITY INSPECTOR – AEROSPACE MANUFACTURING

Position: Quality Inspector
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: Hourly, $27-$32 (based on experience)

Position Summary

We are looking for a Quality Inspector to support inspection activities in an aerospace manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for verifying that manufactured parts meet engineering drawings, customer requirements, and applicable quality standards.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical inspection experience and is comfortable working with aerospace drawings, precision measurement equipment, and inspection documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process and final inspection of aerospace components.
  • Inspect parts to engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Perform dimensional inspection using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, pin gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Operate a FARO Arm using VERISURF for dimensional inspection.
  • Operate and/or program CMM equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensions, tolerances, and inspection requirements.
  • Perform inspections using customer-supplied Digital Product Definition (DPD)/3D model datasets when applicable.
  • Complete and review inspection reports and dimensional results.
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and AS9102 documentation.
  • Identify and document nonconforming product and communicate discrepancies to Quality and Manufacturing.
  • Verify inspection equipment is within calibration prior to use.
  • Maintain accurate and complete inspection records.
  • Support customer, AS9100, and internal quality audits as needed.
  • Work closely with Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production to resolve inspection and quality issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous Quality Inspector experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical inspection techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience using standard precision measuring equipment.
  • Experience with FARO Arm and VERISURF strongly preferred.
  • CMM inspection experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and AS9102 FAI requirements.
  • Ability to accurately document inspection results and maintain traceability.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Preferred Experience

  • Boeing and/or Lockheed Martin aerospace inspection experience.
  • DPD/model-based inspection experience.
  • VERISURF programming and inspection.
  • FARO Arm programming and operation.
  • CMM programming and operation.
  • First Article Inspection (FAI).
  • Aerospace tooling and/or complex machined and formed-part inspection.
  • Experience working in an AS9100-certified manufacturing environment.

The right candidate should be able to review a drawing or digital dataset, determine the appropriate inspection method, accurately document the results, and communicate any discrepancies clearly to the Quality team.
