Controls Technician
JOB SUMMARY:
Wilder Systems designs, manufactures, and installs robotic systems for industrial manufacturing applications in the aerospace industry. Our tools are used in direct manufacturing and maintenance of aerospace structures. We have a dynamic, talented, and collaborative engineering team and want those who are energized by contributing to solutions to solve our customer’s toughest problems.
WS is looking for a Contract-to-Hire Electrical Technician to build, install, test, or maintain robotic equipment or related automated production systems. This person will also make repairs to robots or peripheral equipment, such as replacement of defective circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders, or servomotors.
TASK INCLUDE:
- Troubleshoot robotic systems, using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensor or feedback systems, hydraulics, or pneumatics
- Install wiring, programs, robot controllers, end-of-arm tools, or other equipment
- Perform electrical build of entire robotic systems and validate functionality, ensure all electrical systems meet quality, safety, and compliance standards before systems are shipped
- Conduct final electrical checks and diagnostics on wiring harnesses, sensors, motors, and other critical components
- Identify and resolve electrical issues or failures by interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications
- Maintain service records of robotic equipment or automated production systems and a detailed log of all test results, repairs, and modifications
- Perform preventive or corrective maintenance on robotic systems or components
- Provide feedback to the design and engineering teams to improve product designs and streamline the testing process.
- Align, fit, or assemble wire harnesses, using hand tools, soldering tools, fixtures, and measurement equipment
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of experience in an electrical technician or similar role
- Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and schematics.
- Able to work flexible hours, including overtime when needed
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Required
- Able to travel when required
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Able to lift 30 lbs to waist height repeatedly in a day
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working around robotic systems
- Familiarity with industry standards for electrical safety and compliance (e.g., IPC standards, MIL-STD)
- Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical systems
- Experience assembling automation system
- Experience troubleshooting automation systems
- Experience operating robots (Fanuc or Yaskawa models)
- Experience wiring electrical systems and cabinets to drawing standards
- Experience with basic shop tools and safety
- Current IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification a plus
- Offline Programming
- HMI and PLC programming
- Field bus networks, serial communication and Ethernet communication
- Exposure to a wide variety of production machinery, industrial sensors, and industrial power systems (computer vision, laser distance sensors, servo drives, feedback devices)
- Ability to work effectively with little to no supervision, and seek out the necessary resources to complete tasks
- Experience solving complex problems as an individual or part of a team
